Director of Community Development
City of Martinsville

You are cordially invited to attend the groundbreaking for Phase I of Uptown Revitalization! The ceremony will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 on the corners of Moss Street, Church Street, and Main Street (park at the Uptown Martinsville Farmers' Market).
The City has received a grant from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development for a Community Development Block Grant for façade improvements, a low-cost loan and improvements to Courthouse Square. The City also received a grant from the Harvest Foundation for improvements around Courthouse Square and pre-planning work for the Baldwin Block, the North Lawn of the Historic Henry County Courthouse, Depot Street parking lot improvements and a wayfinding/gateway signage system. These improvements, combined with the help and work of many partners, will be the beginning of a physically revitalized Uptown.
The groundbreaking is the symbolic step of the physical improvements to come in the next few months and we want the community to celebrate with us! We look forward to seeing you there!
