[ARCHIVED] City of Martinsville Public Works Department Begins Annual Leaf Collection for 2024

leaf collection

The City of Martinsville Public Works Department will begin annual leaf collection for 2024, focusing on the removal and disposal of leaves in public streets.

Leaves accumulating on private property remain the responsibility of property owners. Martinsville City Code prohibits blowing or raking leaves into public streets, drainage structures, public property, or rights-of-way, and the burning of leaves in public streets or rights-of-way.

To help property owners with leaf disposal, the city will collect leaves from private property as long as they are placed in plastic bags no larger than 56 gallons and positioned at the curb.

From Monday, Nov. 4, 2024, through the end of December, city collection trucks will operate in residential neighborhoods Monday through Friday, picking up properly bagged leaves placed at the curb.

At other times of the year, residents can schedule a special pickup by calling the city’s Bulk Pick Up number at 403-5419.

For questions about this service, please contact the Public Works Department at 276-403-5154.
