City Council and staff recently had the incredible opportunity to take three Martinsville youths to the Congressional City Conference Youth Program in Washington, D.C.
Our students dove into civic engagement and advocacy, learning how to conduct root cause analyses, brainstorming government solutions, and networking with youth council members from across the country. They also had the chance to dine with Mayor LC Jones, Councilmember Gravely, and City Manager Ferrell-Benavides, gaining firsthand insights into leadership and policymaking.
Beyond the conference, they explored DC’s historic landmarks, including a visit to the National Air and Space Museum for our aspiring engineers!
Their experiences will play a key role in shaping Martinsville’s Youth Advisory Committee, ensuring that young voices are heard in our community.
