[ARCHIVED] Martinsville Police investigate homicide; suspect arrested and charged

At 12:04 a.m., Martinsville Police responded to a disturbance in the area of 54 West Church Street. When officers arrived, they found Clayborne Kent Jr., 37-years-old, of Martinsville, with a gunshot wound. Mr. Kent was transported to SOVAH Health Martinsville but died while enroute to the hospital. 

After processing the scene and interviewing witnesses the investigation led to the other person involved in the incident, Trequon Antonio Davis. Davis was located and taken into custody without incident at his residence on Beaver Street in Martinsville. Davis, 23-years-old, has been charged with Manslaughter, Reckless Handling of a Firearm, and Discharging a Firearm in a Public Place Resulting in Injury. He is currently being held in the Martinsville City Jail without bail.
