Staff presents recommendations on issues in Uptown Martinsville to Council

Council recap september 12

Below is a summary of the September 12th Martinsville City Council meeting.

Staff presents the results of their Uptown Survey to Council

Building Inspector Kris Bridges, Fire Marshal Andy Powers, and Police Chief Rob Fincher have spent several weeks surveying the Uptown area to take records of problems that need to be addressed. Bridges, Powers, and Lieutenant Jim Lovell presented their findings along with solutions to the City Council on Tuesday night.

Staff recommends that the City takes a proactive approach in addressing issues in Uptown for which the City is responsible, setting an example for property owners before taking immediate action against property owners with violations. Council thanked staff for the report and recommended that staff prioritize property violations.

The presentation is available here.
