Due to dry conditions and the limited likelihood of significant rainfall in the near future, the City of Martinsville is implementing an outdoor burning ban. City Fire Chief Dan Howell has declared an immediate ban on all outdoor burning activities in accordance with City Ordinance 9-62. The City is joining several other jurisdictions within the region in implementing such bans.
This local ban strictly prohibits all outdoor burning, encompassing but not limited to wood, brush, logs, leaves, grass, debris, paper, trash, and other flammable materials
The fire ban takes effect immediately and will remain in place until conditions improve, and local authorities lift the ban.
Chief Howell wishes to emphasize that this temporary ban has been put in place for the safety of all citizens and greatly appreciates everyone's cooperation.
