City of Martinsville Street Resurfacing Projects

City of Martinsville Street Resurfacing Projects

As part of the City of Martinsville’s street maintenance program, resurfacing of several City streets will begin the week of, June 9th.  Construction crews from Thompson-Arthur Paving and Slurry Pavers will be performing the work.  The cost of the project as bid is $308,355.00 and work is expected to be completed by June 30, 2014.

Milling and paving operations will be performed on the right hand lane of eastbound Commonwealth Boulevard from the entrance at Liberty Fair Mall to Liberty Street; the right hand lane of northbound Memorial Boulevard from the City limits to 1011 Memorial Boulevard; and Liberty Street from Dillard Street through the intersection with Commonwealth Boulevard.

Slurry seal operations will be performed on Royal Drive, Palace Court, Castle Lane, Melody Lane, Melody Court, Pinehall Road, Wray Street, Fairy Street Extension, Valient Lane, Whittle Road, 5th Street, Clift Street from Starling Avenue to Cole Street, Askin Street from Memorial Boulevard to Union Street, 2nd Street from 503 to dead end, Top Street, Marshall Street, B Street from 5th Street to dead end, and F Street from Second Street to Fourth Street.

During construction, motorists and affected residents can expect traffic delays.  Newly paved roads and slurry seal applications cannot be driven on for approximately 30 minutes during the curing process.  Construction crews will be restricting access to these newly paved areas during this time.  Residents are encouraged to avoid these areas during paving and curing operations and to pay strict attention to temporary construction signs that may be placed in work areas.
