Disc Golf Course Expanded
October 17, 2010Disc Golf Course expanded to 18 Holes with help from Eagle Scout Project
MARTINSVILLE, VA. - Blake Hughes, along with other Scouts from Troop 63 and Parks and Recreation Maintenance Staff worked together to expand the Disc Golf Course at J. Frank Wilson Memorial Park to a full regulation course of 18 holes. Blake, age 18, is a senior at Martinsville High School and completed this project on Oct. 8th to complete his Eagle Scout Project. To kick off the new 18 holes, Martinsville Parks and Recreation and Boys Scouts of American are hosting a Disc Golf Tournament this coming Saturday, Oct. 16th at 9am. This project would not be a reality without the help from nine different sponsors to help pay for the Course. Sponsors are Dr. David Jones, Orthodontist; Therapy Direct; Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation; Dr. James Jordan; JBS Cabling; Marjorie Sutton Memorial Foundation in Memory of J. Pat Sutton; Daniel's Auto Glass; SunTrust Foundation; and DataSavvy. The entire Course is paid for by 18 local sponsors.
