Accepting Nominations for Outstanding Military Veteran's Award

Each year, nominations are accepted for the "Outstanding Military Veteran" award. The award will go to the nominee judged by the selection committee to best represent what service to our Country and the community means. The award was created in 2009 by the Board of Supervisors at the suggestion of Board member Debra Buchanan. With the support of the Martinsville City Council, the award has been expanded to allow nominations of both Martinsville and Henry County Veterans.

In observance of Columbus Day the City Municipal Building and administrative offices along with Constitutional offices will be closed Monday, October 10, 2016.

Martinsville, VA (October 5, 2016) – City emergency management personnel continue to monitor the path of Hurricane Matthew slowing moving up and along the eastern United States coastline, particularly regarding any potential impact from wind or rain to this area. Citizens are urged to closely follow weather reports and to be prepared as conditions may dictate.
