Citizens Emergency Alert System
The Martinsville-Henry County 911 Center has recently implemented the CodeRED system, a high-speed emergency notification service provided by Ormond Beach, FL-based Emergency Communications Network.
The CodeRED system will serve as the backbone of the Martinsville-Henry County's emergency planning and communications outreach to both citizens and Martinsville-Henry County personnel by using the system capabilities to send telephone calls, text messages, emails, and social media in an effort to effectively inform residents to protect life and property. CodeRED, among other notification systems available, was selected for its unrivaled reliability and accuracy, as well as the system's global use.
Martinsville-Henry County has been provided an initial database of residential and business telephone number, however all resident's living within Martinsville-Henry County limits are encouraged to visit the link below and enroll additional contact information including cell phone numbers, text and email address. No one should automatically assume they are in the emergency contact database.
Public Safety officials across the United States have credited CodeRED notifications for many successful events including location missing children, apprehending wanted criminals, issuing timely weather alerts and evacuation notifications!
Newly Adopted Ordinances regarding pet wastes
Martinsville City Council adopted an ordinance in October 2009 to address concerns expressed by citizens over pet waste problems in public areas. The ordinance applies to city owned property and rights of way.
