Piedmont Area Regional Transit (PART)
The Piedmont Area Regional Transit system, or PART, began carrying passengers on January 5, 2009. PART now provides fare free transportation on all routes that are provided in the section below.
The service operates Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Children under 6 years old, accompanied by an adult, ride at no charge.
PART is following a fixed route system through parts of the City of Martinsville and Henry County. Routes are served by three 14-passenger handicapped accessible buses. Designated stops are located at high-traffic retail areas, industrial parks, college campuses, medical facilities, and government offices.
Individuals who are ADA-certified may request the van to deviate off its route to make pick-ups and drop-offs, with 24-hour advance notice. This distance of deviation may not exceed 3/4 of a mile off the fixed route.
The system is managed by RADAR of Roanoke, a non-profit organization that has organized and maintained both public and private human service transportation for more than 25 years.
Details of the bus routes and schedules are available at https://radartransit.org/ridership-information/part/
